Oh Christmas Tree.........

This is the last Santa of the season.  He's a cutie patootie.
I won't be making any more of them this year.  And since Bruce and I missed the Farmers Market this morning.  Sigh....
Oh well.  He is available and is $65.00.

Bruce rented a wood splitter for the weekend.
Bring on the cold weather.
I'm ready to sit by the wood stove with a good book.
We still have a huge pile to split and cut up.  This stack will only last us about a week of cold weather.
As a kid I used to love when dad started up a fire.  He didn't do it often.  It was it's own little holiday for me.

I didn't do as much decorating as I usually do for Christmas.
I put up the most important things.  It's funny, when I was a kid, I couldn't wait to decorate for Christmas.  We would get all excited and the tree was a mess of ornaments. (until we went to bed and my mother totally redecorated the tree) My boys don't help with the tree or the manger.  I get everything out of the wash house and pick all my favorite ornaments (mostly hand made ones) and I decorate the tree all by myself.  The tree skirt is an old quilt cut into a circle and I ran a sewing machine stitch around all the edges.
I didn't know the three wise men, angel, and all the rest wore blue eye shadow when Jesus was born.  It seems my mother must have painted this set in the 80's when blue eye shadow was in.
I only planted three garden boxes for winter.  I had a hard time finding seeds for broccoli and cauliflower, so instead I just have cabbage and collard greens.  The third one is spinach but I only have a few little sprouts, so I didn't take a picture of that box.  All those little tiny sprouts in these pictures are larkspur.  I'm not sure why they're already coming up.  I still have a package of winter squash I need to plant.  I know I'm not doing my planting the correct way according to the farmers almanac or whatever.  I just sort of go with the flow. :)

I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas.
Big Hugs
Shannon
