Old Parlor, Made Into Master Bedroom
Oh the love of a tin ceiling.
Originally the ceiling in this house was wide wood planks, but one night I had a dream about this tin ceiling from an old house we were taking apart for parts. The tin was in a large kitchen that had so much water damage, there was only so much of it we could salvage. That next day when I told my husband about the dream, he got in the truck and headed over to the other house with my dad and they took that yucky tin down. We cleaned it, repaired it, primed and painted it and had exactly enough to install in this bedroom with only scraps left over. Lots of work, but well worth it.
The headboard is made from an old 5 panel door that Bruce and I built.
Originally there were no French doors to this doorway.
I love French doors, so it was a must to put them in.
I wanted an oval glass door on this doorway. We didn't have an oval glass door, so my dad made me one and used a small part of some gingerbread trim from the exterior gable of the house that we had left over when we rebuilt that trim because it had rotted.
The vintage door knob mechanism works and is really cool. I can't remember if we pulled it from an old door or found that one at an antique shop.
