Magic Moments
I just spent an hour typing up a really good blog post only to lose it due to an error.
What's funny about that, is the post was about having peace when stuff happens.
So I guess I was being tested. And I think I passed. :)
I was talking about magic moments in the day. There are these moments throughout the day when something happens, or you see something, or hear something that is just so cool.
A sunset with amazing colors and this glow to the edges as if it's on fire.
Seeing a mocking bird bopping the head of a baby buzzard sitting at the top of an electrical pole.
Hearing the sounds of cicadas on a cool summer evening.
Most of us don't realize these moments happen because we don't really look for them.
I'll ask my husband what was his favorite part of the day and he tells me he didn't have one.
That got me thinking. How sad to live each day not looking for the cool parts.
I live my life with my faith as my foundation.
Every night and morning, I ask God to take my day.
I ask Him to guide my thoughts, feelings, words and deeds.
I ask Him to just place the path before me and I will walk it.
I give him my worries and I try not to have ANY expectations for the day.
I thank Him for everything.
Each day feels peaceful even if something goes off balance.
If I don't do this and, instead, try to do the day on my own....no peace.
The day seems stressful.
Every day I look for the cool parts. The GIFTS. The Magic Moments.
Today, one of our Dotty chickens tore her comb on the coop wire.
Her head was covered in blood and she was stressing from something that scared her.
So, I picked her up and took her to the bathroom to clean her up. I had to cut off part of her comb, wash her head with peroxide and wipe her eyes and beak down with a wet rag. She nestled into my lap and let me take care of her and then just sat there with me for a while. Magic moment.
Yesterday we were outside working in the garden when a wonderful fall breeze blew through for about 10 minutes or more. It made you feel like you were in the middle of October for just a little while. Magic moment.
When you get to collect your chicken eggs in the morning. Magic moment.
I realized that my husband wasn't finding his favorite part of the day because he was focusing on other expectations. He was missing them.
He was not finding any peace in his day because he was trying to do it all on his own.
God gives us free will. We can choose to do everything on our own if we think we can do a better job of it.
I've learned that He's much better at my life than I am.
He seems to know who I am better than I do.
When did we all become so picky?
My garden is half dead from the heat. So my rose bush that usually produces large red flowers is producing small pink ones. Works for me. I love pink.
We are grumpy when we drive, grumpy when we work, grumpy when we live our lives. We have expectations that are ridiculously high. We hated our president before he even started his job. We hate Christians, people of other races or religions, cops and anyone who is different.
Then........... WE HATE OTHERS FOR HATING!!!!!!!
WE HATE EVERYTHING!!!!
Why?
Try this. Make a list of what you hate.
Is it long?
Make a list of what you love.
I sure hope it's longer.
Put a rubber band on your wrist and every time you complain....snap it.
If you wrist hurts at the end of the day...you learned something.
LOve ya!!!
