365 days
It's a beautiful cold day. Freezing temperatures are challenging me to keep plants alive in the garden and water thawed for the chickens. Yet, Gertie the duck swims in her little pond even in the cold.
I have a duck in the bathroom and two frizzle babies in a cage next to the duck.
The wood stove is cranked and Harry Potter, movie number 3, is playing on the DVD player.
My Son Taylor will be home from Italy this week and I'm thrilled about that.
Gracie our new puppy is still a cutie although is proving to be a challenge to potty train due to excited tinkles. But Brinkley is being a great big brother, helping me to teach Gracie, and peanut is being peanut. The mailman didn't seemed too happy when he asked me if I got a new puppy. Poor guy.
My dogs bark at him like they are going to eat him.
It is a new year. A blessing, a fresh start, incentive to improve.....and yet the bible says "EVERY DAY" is new. Try not to put all your hopes into an entire year. There is no success in that goal.
Every year has good and bad. Many things can happen in 365 days. Instead...we should think of every day as a new day and strive to enjoy the blessing that day has to offer. If each day is given such value, at the end of the year it will seem "well done".
Have peace in knowing God has everything handled for those who love Him and let Him guide your steps.
I no longer live with expectations. They will always fail you.
Don't think of what great day it will be, what a great birthday it will be, what a great party we will have, what a successful year we will have. Don't imagine the perfect card and flowers you will get for mothers day or the fabulous gift you got your husband and he will LOVE IT. Our expectations will always be greater than reality.
Or....be one of those people who plan and expect great things and push to achieve.
There are those who do well living life that way and are a great success. Just don't let it define you as a person. Failure is such an important gift if you learn. Always being successful is great but does not teach as much. Sometimes the difficulty is the challenge that teaches us great things for living a beautiful life. We just need to think of it as a challenge and not a failure.
I see things changing in the world. Things that are good. I see more people avoiding the news and more news stations avoiding the drama. I see people spending less time on facebook and more time with friends. I see more and more organic food choices at HEB. I see more and more people with gardens, chickens, cooking, eating healthy and walking their fitbit steps.
So maybe things aren't looking as bad as they sometimes seem.
Maybe we're going in a better direction.
I have no expectations...but I will look for the good and celebrate those things instead of posting the bad and drawing more attention to it. Whatever you feed.....grows.
Praying everyone has a great day each day for 365 days.
Hugs
