What does your home say about you?

A week or so ago I gave my cousin, who lives in NC, a video tour of my home on a dirty house day. I'm not sure why I didn't do the video on a clean house day. I guess I thought it would be more entertaining. :)
Last week we had my husbands band over for a practice. Afterward, one of the guys said how nice it is that we let them practice here and that we make the house look so nice. He was kissing up because I have to mop floors before he visits due to the fact that he's extremely allergic to my cats. I told him that I really love my house.
To which he replied, "you do don't you?".

I think your home is an extension of you. I can tell a lot about someone by looking at their home. If it's perfectly clean, if it's a bit of a mess, if there is very little in the home, if there is a lot in the home. Everything tells a story.

If your like me, I want my home to be clean and organized when someone sees it. I don't want any pet hair rolling across the floor like tumble weed. I don't want there to be any odd smells, any dirty windows, any dust, any dirty clothes, all the beds made, etc. However....the reality is that you won't find my home looking all that perfect on the average day. The fact is...I rarely make my bed, I always have a mess in the kitchen, the litter boxes always have something in them, the pet hair is always on the floor, the windows look like someone drew on them, and I'm usually in my pj's. But..through all the mess, you can tell I love my home. I have lots of stuff. My home is creative and a bit of a mess. You can tell I'm very laid back, you can tell I love God, you can tell I have four guys living with me, You can tell I'm a bit of a pack rat, you can tell I love old things that tell a story, You can tell I love animals, and you can tell that I love to make things.

When you look around your home, your car, your room...does it say anything about you?If I were to come for a visit, what would I see. I'm not talking about mess and dust, I'm talking about what is under all of that. What is your favorite area of your home, or your favorite corner, favorite chair. THAT...tells me about you. What you love in your home tells the story, what you don't love in your home tells another story.
If we were all to take one picture of our favorite space in our home and post it on facebook, how interesting that would be. For me anyway. :)

I AM

Several years ago I read something that really made sense to me. I can't remember where I read it or what exactly it said but it talked about how saying the words "I am ......." before some value that you wish you had.  It was explained that, in doing so, it could change your subconscious thinking.   We all have so many thoughts running through our heads at any given moment and I would guess that not all those thoughts are positive.  If you are a woman, then you probably have many more thoughts running at one time than any man would.  Most of us have high expectations for ourselves, so every imaginable self criticism comes to mind and runs on a continuous loop in our heads. Todays thoughts

I've been listening and reading about a new fad in Christianity that has become very heart breaking for me personally . It seems there is a growing number of people who don't like what they call the "institution" of the church. You know what? Church is not perfect and never was. That's why there are so many letters in the bible to churches telling them what they need to change. It's not going to be perfect but that doesn't mean we walk away. What concerns me about great Christian people who give up on the church experience, is that, in giving up and only gathering with a small group of Christians, they are losing the experience of fellowship with people that have no other place to go. Christians who need loving people around them on that Sunday morning, to help get them through the week.
