Where the heck is fall?
Good Morning!
It's cloudy outside. As I was making my coffee in the kitchen, I looked out the window, and the neighbors chickens were trying to get my attention. They are so funny. Finally one of them flew up onto the garden gate and looked at me through the window as if to say, "get your rear out here and feed us".
As I walked out the front door to the porch and towards the gate to the gravel driveway, they started running towards me. I sat on the ground and set their food down only to find that Kiki decided to come and visit me also. The chickens weren't too sure about her. They waited a while, at a distance, until they realized she wasn't a threat. It's fun to listen to them talk while they eat. If they see anything that might be a threat, they make little noises to each other and you can hear them discuss it with little chirps. I have listened to roosters for years in the neighborhood and told my husband that I would have to make chicken soup out of those noisy things. And one neighbor had a rooster that chased me. But I kinda like this little guy that visits me. He's fun to watch and I can only imagine how pretty he will get full grown. I hope he doesn't get mean.
They are scratching around in my compost pile now.
My floors in the house are gross. Like...really not pretty at all. Between dog hair and socks that Maggie brings from Alex's room, it's a mess. The kitchen is also a mess. I made lots of Kombucha tea yesterday. I decided making two gallons at a time wasn't going to cut it for us, so now I have 4 gallons going.
Last night my husband went to a venue in town to say hello to a performer, Jake Worthington. Bruce and I watched him win on "the voice" several seasons back, and Bruce visited with him when the guys played the rodeo several months back. When he heard he would be in town, Bruce decided to go by and say hello. Such a nice guy. This young man goes out of his way to be kind to people. It really impressed my husband. Not all musicians are so nice.
I need to get my rear in gear and make the house look happy. It looks sad right now. Poor house. I can just hear it telling me "you suck...clean me!" :)
What a strangely warm October. There are these beautiful wild yellow flower bushes all over the property that make it look kinda dreamy. All the blooms are closed at the moment. I hope they open later in the day. Yesterday it was so pretty. Normally, when those bloom, we have rutting season and male deer are chasing female deer all over the property, but it's so warm that I think the deer are confused. Maybe I'm wrong on the timing. I just really want some cooler weather.
Ok Shannon....quit stalling and get to working on the house.
Have a great day everyone.
Shannon
