Old Parlor, Made Into Master Bedroom

Oh the love of a tin ceiling. Originally the ceiling in this house was wide wood planks, but one night I had a dream about this tin ceiling from an old house we were taking apart for parts.  The tin was in a large kitchen that had so much water damage, there was only so much of it we could salvage.  That next day when I told my husband about the dream, he got in the truck and headed over to the other house with my dad and they took that yucky tin down.  We cleaned it, repaired it, primed and painted it and had exactly enough to install in this bedroom with only scraps left over.  Lots of work, but well worth it. The headboard is made from an old 5 panel door that Bruce and I built. Originally there were no French doors to this doorway.   I love French doors, so it was a must to put them in. I wanted an oval glass door on this doorway.  We didn't have an oval glass door, so my dad made me one and used a small part of some gingerbread trim from the exteri...

Today was one of those days.  I can't ever predict when I'm going to have a day that I'm down in the dumps.  I wake up in the morning and there it is.  Trying to push myself out of it is a long tedious process.  Most days it gets noticeably better when my husbands truck drives onto the drive.  Just the sound of it can make me think, "thank goodness". It is beautiful outside today.  I went out at about noon and sat on the back deck steps to read my different bible plans.  The black stray cat was there to keep me company.  He likes the back deck. I am reading several plans on my bible app.  In fact, I think there are 5.  For some reason, today's readings were not what I needed to hear.  Everything seemed to talk about accepting the fact that you are unworthy, have no willpower, must lower yourself, should not have any pride.......   Wow!  I'm not sure that is what God's plan is for us.  I read so many posts from...
