Thoughts of the day
Wow, what a day!
Alex is home sick. He's had a fever for two days and sleeps all the time. I'm having to really work to get some fluids down him. I don't want to end up in the hospital again for dehydration.
I put him in the living room so I could check on him easily. His bedroom is on the other side of the house. Because I put him in the living room, and because he was sleeping, I had to find something quiet to do. So I decided to work in the kitchen. I thought it would be pretty cool if I could take the oven door apart and clean the drip lines from inside. It was a long chore but it looks great. Yay me!!!
During the week I got a call from a friend. After the call I spent a good part of the day thinking about the conversation and wondering if I said something wrong. I beat myself up about it all day. I hate that. Sometimes I wish I didn't care. I will torture myself with what others think about me, and here they probably don't think about me at all. I want to fix everything. Will I ever get over that?
It is, what they call, rutting season. Not sure how to spell it. Basically, it's mating season for the deer. We have several female deer and babies that we feed. Well, lately we've had a male deer who's been chasing them. Today we noticed a second male deer. One has a small rack and the other has a pretty good sized one. They're pretty impressive to see. I'm loving this. Not sure if I want to watch the ACTUAL mating process, but the look of these magnificent creatures is pretty cool. I'm not courageous enough to feed them when he's out and about. The macho way he walks around makes me want to stay clear of those pointy things on his head. I can just see him chasing me and poking me in the rear. The female already tend to huff at us and stomp the ground on occasion, but only the ones who don't know us or if they have a new baby around.
I let our rabbit run around the yard here and there and he's gotten into letting me know he doesn't want to be put back in his cage, by thumping the ground. Love it. He's a cuddly little bugger, but he lets you know if he wants to be put down by biting whatever part of you sticks out. When I'm holding him against me.......well, you get the picture.
It looks like we're going to get some rain this evening and tomorrow. I love the rain. LOVE IT!!!
I could do without the leaky roof, but hey, what's life without a little adventure. :)
Since my husband will probably get rained out, I'm going to see if he'll help me do some much needed cleaning. I bet he's looking forward to that. Would be nice if the rain would help the grass grow, but I'm not sure the grass is growing much any more. :(
I think the lighting of the plaza is tomorrow night. I doubt we'll go if it's raining.
Bruce and I have been discussing how to get the septic system, gas, and the rest of the plumbing and electrical done. I think we may have figured it out. I'm so excited. I pray it all goes well, and that we're making the right decisions. The economy and drought haven't been very kind to us these last two years, but God has provided none the less.
It's been a long day. My hubby is cooking up some spaghetti and our favorite tv shows come on this evening. I'm looking forward to some quiet time.
I pray we don't have any more sick people in the house.
Have a great evening.
