I wonder what it would be like......
Today was a good day. I'm not quite sure why. It was a day like every other, but I felt better emotionaly. I slept much better than usual, without the need of medication or getting up at 3 a.m. to walk around and wonder why I'm up. I slept.
Is it possible that sleeping can make that much of a difference?
I paid some bills this morning and looked at what I still need to pay for the month. Not the most relaxing job, I must say. But I'm grateful that we are able to manage the most important bills when so many are losing their homes and having a hard time paying for the most basic expenses like food and electricity. I hope and pray that our government will soon find a way out of this mess.
There are so many who live within their means and have always done so, who take care of their bills and have always done so, who do not take advantage of the system if they can possibly help it. I think there are many good people who are suffering for something that is not their fault and many wealthy business men who are not suffering and are responsible for this mess. Banks are making a killing off overdraft fees and junk food companies are making a fortune off people who are short of funds and can't buy decent food. Just doesn't seem right.
I wonder sometimes what it would be like if the world was more interested in family, health, nature, simplicity, and selflessness. We all have different personalities, so it's not possible to find each and every person in the world consumed with what is right and good. But it's fun to think about how different the world would be.
When I drive down the highway and see all the concrete, signs and debrise on the road, it makes me wonder what it must have looked like 100 years ago. I bet it was beautiful. I imagine there were quite a few trees and untouched land as far as the eye can see. I imagine the air smelled different and the sky was clear. I'm sure there was a great deal of mud when it rained but I bet it was pretty wonderful afterwards and didn't smell of concrete and exhaust. I wonder what it was like to have a closet the size of an armoire with only a few outfits and a couple pair of shoes. Was it nice to have only enough stuff to fill a trunk and not much more?
Were there more birds and fewer trashcans. Did people enjoy sitting outside talking with their family and friends instead of watching tv and hanging on the cell phone or computer? Were people in need of anti-depressants or headache medication?
Life was not perfect, I know, but I wonder if we knew what we know now, would we do things differently? Would we have kept the good things and not invented the things that ended up poluting our planet, minds and time?
What if money didn't exhist and everyone lived for what they need and not what they want. What would we invent and what would we decide should be left alone?
I love thinking of what the world would be like.
If money was no object, what would the world look like?
I imagine, instead of roads made of ugly concrete, they would be paved with cobblestone. Instead of homes that all look like the same square box, they would each have the personality of the person who lives within the walls. The ideas are endless.
If companies made every product to last the life of the family using them, I can only imagine how much less trash there would be in the world. If unhealthy food and chemicals didn't exhist, how wonderful everyone would feel and look.
It's fun to imagine. But the fact is that the world will never be what we want it to be, on purpose. By God's design, we are given what we are given to teach us, to challenge us, to mold us.....and when we are done.
That glorious place we dream of will be waiting.

Where can we live as enough is enough. Do we really need another strip mall, or another restaurant? What more do we really need out there? Enough is enough... let us just live!! with out all the distractions. Now days you drive to a new city and it looks just like the last one, all the same stuff...I call it "same city" as the last...simpler is best.
