Walkin around lookin at stuff
As I was walking through the kitchen this morning I noticed one of my ivy plants needed water. I grow them in water without dirt. I then thought about the fact Scott, Mike and I all grow ivy in water. Scott has the most impressive one that grows along his upstairs railing. Mine are the most pathetic. If you take a cutting of ivy and put it in water, it will grow really well. You just have to make sure that when you add water, you don't stir the roots too much because it will shock it a bit.
I keep my african violet on top of the frig. I only water it when it starts to look a bit wilted. If you over water, it will die. My one plant has turned into two. I need to transplant it soon. Wish me luck. I've never done that with an african violet. I remember my mother puting an african violet leaf in dirt and watching it start a new plant. I'm going to have to try that sometime.
Our pond has been growing lillies ever since the pump stopped running. We had a beautiful goldfish in the pond but I can't find him. I went out this morning to loook and only found tadpoles. :( I hope he's just hiding under the algae. At the other house I had a Coi that grew to be HUGE. One day the boys came in my room and informed me he was dead in the pond along with all my other beautiful fish. Not a good day. If I get another coi I can't grow any lilly plants because they eat them. I'm kinda wondering if some animal got in the pond and took the goldfish.
The rain we got this last week was so wonderful. I went outside this morning to see if anything looked refreshed from the showers. These two plants look totally different than the last time I saw them. They are suposed to grow these beautiful little rose looking flowers. They reseed ever year but, with the droubt, it's been a while since I've seen flowers. I'll post an update if they bloom.
This is the top of my entertainment center in my bedroom. The doll house was my mothers that she found at a thrift store and left at the house when she and my dad divorced. It's very cute. She worked hard on it. It has a set of tiny furniture and one little doll, and yes I will let my grandchild play with it if I have any.
The picture to the left is my little cousin Stacy, who was my very best friend when I was little. She was only 4 when she passed away, on sept 9th 1975, from a heart condition. I was 5 and it was pretty devistating to lose her. Her favorite song was, "like a rinestone cowboy". She would play it on her record player and she would ride the rocking horse and I would have to ride the inch worm. :)
The photo on the right is a baby picture of my Grandmother Clara. She once owned the home I am curently living in and was actually born in this home. Her parents Armin and Emily built the house back in 1907.
Below that photo are two beautifully crocheted baby bonnets from my Dad's mother. I'm not sure if she wore them or if she put them on her children. They are very delicate so I try not to mess with them much.
This is one of my favorite little spots in my home.
Well, I'm off to change over the clothes. I might do some crafty stuff today. We shall see.
Have a great day.
Love
Shannon
