How Bright Are You???

I was watching the Oprah life class again last night and I found the subject interesting.
I have them on the DVR so I'm a day behind, but I get to watch without all the commercials.  :)
She had a guy on who survived an airplane accident that sounded horrific.
He was telling the story about how he looked back at the inside of the burning plane and saw the rest of the passengers still buckled in their seats and the fire from the crash was all around them.  He said he saw the aura of each of the passengers leave their bodies.  He said each one was different, some were bright,  some were less bright, some were dark, as if the energy they lived with was evident when they passed.
Whether or not you believe in what the man said or believe in auras, is unimportant.  The point that she was making was...what kind of energy do you bring into the room?  If it was a fact that you could visually see the positive or negative energy of someone surrounding them....what would it look like based on that persons mood, words, body language, etc?  I'm not talking about whether they are a bad person or not.  I'm not asking if they cheat, steal, or break the law.  We all know someone who, when they walk into a room, seems to suck the life right out of the space as if the joy just disappears.  We all know someone who can change a day from good to bad within moments of being around them, to the point that your spouse will actually come up to you and say, "did you hang out with ........ today"?
My question to you is.....
What does your energy look like?  Are you bright, fun, and smile a lot?  Are you grumpy, complaining, and have an embedded frown on your face?  What kind of energy do you bring to a room?
In the Harry Potter books they have the dementor character who makes the area cold and depressing when he shows up.  I always thought that was a great idea for a character, because we all know someone like that.
I don't want to be that character.  I want to shine.  I'm not sure I know how to shine without being that person who is always trying to be what everyone wants them to be.  I want to shine because I AM shiny.  :)
I want to be a bright light to everyone because I AM a bright light to me.
It's a tricky balance, I think.  But you know what????  I think it all starts with a smile.
So we just gotta plaster that sucker on our faces and go from there.....I guess.
Think about the energy of the people around you.  Who has a bright energy and who is dark and depressing?
Who has the type of energy that you wish you had?  Who has the energy you dread being around?  Who are you more like?
The great thing is that we can change starting right now.  We can post positive quotes on our mirrors reminding us to smile and think good thoughts.  We can choose to be kind with ourselves and other.
We can shut off all those lovely voices that tell us we aren't worthy.  I know it's not easy, but I think it might be worth it.
I hope this made you think.
Have a great day.  Smile!!!
