I love these things
It is 11:30. I have tea this morning instead of coffee.
It's chai tea with added lemon balm, apple mint, peppermint, clove, cinnamon, turmeric, ginger and honey. I like tea more than coffee for the taste, but coffee has a much better kick to it, obviously.
My husband is having lunch with a friend. He already went to a funeral this morning.
When he get's back home he has to jump start his vehicle and get a new battery before he can start his day of work. He looked like he was going to blow a gasket before he left for the funeral.
He was late, the work vehicle wouldn't start, and everything seemed to be going wrong.
So I took the jumper cables out of his hands, told him to change clothes and take my truck, and breathe.
Why do we get so bent out of shape for things that aren't that big of a deal?
I took Nyquil last night so I could sleep. I did finally sleep, but now I have that tired hangover.
I need to pay bills and do laundry today. Sounds like fun.
Poor Ash and Remy want out of that laundry room so bad. If they would just stop marking in the house I would give them free roam of the area.
Darn male cat macho bologna.
I'll probably just put them in the outdoor cat enclosure so I can do laundry. They don't like outside. But...once Kiki isn't around or I need to bring her in because of her age, I'm booting them out.
I need mousers.
They need to earn their keep.
Kiki is sounding more and more like a rusty siren when she meows. My pretty girl is getting old.
She loves her outdoors, but she's looking a bit tired and having trouble jumping up and out of the way.
There is so much to do here. It feels overwhelming at times. I have to get out of my head and enjoy things as they are. Everything in our house is old and probably a little broken.
My couch is 18 years old. I could get another couch but I love this one. I think it would have to have an arm break off for me to get rid of it....and then again I would probably just fix the arm. lol!
I have it covered with all kinds of things to keep it clean. It is very shabby chic.
Well, maybe just shabby.
I wish the outside of the house was still painted. That's probably one of my biggest frustrations. The wood is so old that it doesn't hold paint well. When we painted, the wood was wet and a lot of the paint popped off once the boards dried and shrunk back to their original size. The rest has a crackly finish. Almost pretty...but not.
The roof is original and leaks. It looks so cool with it's rusty finish, until it rains and your setting pots all over the place.
But....when it rains.....you hear the sound of the rain on the tin and it's a little piece of heaven.
Walking through the house has become a challenge when your trying not to wake someone. The floorboards creak and there are a few that are really loud. Sound kinda like a fart.
The floors are imperfect and in some places will rip holes in your socks if you get them just right.
I now have holes in almost every pair of socks I own.
Crumbs collect between the board gaps so you have to vacuum between each board if you truly want a clean floor.
The ceilings are bead board and have imperfections. So, on most days, you have a mud wasp or something flying around the kitchen, because they come in through the cracks.
Lady bugs live in parts of the walls because there is no insulation. On warm days in the winter they come out and sit at the top of the windows. It's very cool. In fact, right after we moved the house we opened a wall that had thousands of lady bugs.
We have floor vents because our AC runs under the house. They end up with scorpions in them because the little buggers come out at night and fall into the vents.
We have a pie cabinet that has no glass in the door. When people come over and want a glass, we point to the cabinet and wait to see if they open the door or reach through and grab a glass. It has become very amusing for my family. I'm over it. :)
The funny thing is....I love these things. How strange am I?
We all have homes with quirks. My house has a total personality.
It's very amusing. It has a sense of humor.
It was built by my great grandfather and he had a sense of humor, based on the stories I've heard.
I hope I never have to live anywhere else in my lifetime.
It is going to be a wonderful day. I am determined to make it so.
My hubby is home from lunch.
Happy Thursday!
